STEVE LIU, L.Ac. Chronic Supraspinatus Tendonitis Pain: An Integrative Approach for Treatment with Cross- Fiber Massage, Electroacupuncture, Far-Infrared Heat, and Photobiomodulation
Many chronic pain patients are related to sports injuries that often involve soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments. A recent study reports that treating acute pain with anti–inflammatory medication, like ibuprofen or aspirin, may promote pain in the long term. This presentation focuses on a combination of clinical modalities that integrate osteopathic cross–fiber massage, microcurrent electro–acupuncture, far–infrared heat, and photobiomodulation (PBM) to break up the scar tissue, re–activate the body’s intrinsic repair mechanism, and heal the chronic pain completely. Chronic supraspinatus tendonitis is used to illustrate this integrative approach.
