STEVE LIU, L.Ac. Chronic Supraspinatus Tendonitis Pain: An Integrative Approach for Treatment with Cross- Fiber Massage, Electroacupuncture, Far-Infrared Heat, and Photobiomodulation
Many chronic pain patients are related to sports injuries that often involve soft tissues such as muscles, tendons, and ligaments. A recent study reports that treating acute pain with anti-inflammatory medication, like ibuprofen or aspirin, may promote pain in the long term.
This presentation focuses on a combination of clinical modalities that integrate osteopathic cross-fiber massage, microcurrent electro-acupuncture, far-infrared heat, and photobiomodulation (PBM) to break up the scar tissue, re-activate the body’s intrinsic repair mechanism, and heal the chronic pain completely. Chronic supraspinatus tendonitis is used to illustrate this integrative approach.
